The Broken Planet Book Series
Hello, and welcome my website. I’m Mat Jackson, the author of the Broken Planet book series. There’s a page for each book, with blogs covering the main topics from each book on the page for those who find reading a whole book too much.
I’m sure you’re all aware that our planet is pretty fucked up, and that we need to fix it. Before we can fix the planet though we need to know why it’s fucked up. To do this we need to cut through the bullshit, and there’s a lot of BS to get through, because the world basically runs on the stuff.
A lot of people already know the world is run on bullshit, but only a few seem to know how bad it is, and many of those who do have gone down a rabbit hole where the BS is truly unbelievable. And yet they do.
These books are aimed at the people I think of as educated sceptics; those who believe in science, but not so much what we are told by the media, governments, or corporations. If you’re cynical by nature then you should find these books interesting and informative, but if you are heavily into conspiracy theories then they may not be for you.
When I say the world is run on bullshit, I don’t mean everything is total BS. In fact, I think most things are mostly true, it’s just that there isn’t much of our world that hasn’t been tainted with the excrement of bullock. Having said this, there are a few things that are total BS, and some of them are big, like Christianity. Even when things are total bullshit there is still an element of truth in there somewhere. For example, I am pretty sure Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The reason why he was born there is BS though, as is rest of Christianity. The thing I find most intriguing about this particular piece of BS is that Christians know Jesus was Jewish, and that they are not Jewish, yet they still think they are his followers. That takes some grade A rationalization.
Getting back to the point of these books, I’m trying to show people that they have been conned, if not actually brainwashed, into believing many things that are obviously not true. If you don’t think this applies to you then consider this. Economies go through cycles—surges and slumps if not actual booms and busts—and the amount of work available varies with the cycles. During a slump when there is less work available we can either have people working less hours or less people with a job. For some reason we have chosen option B. The simple fact is that if we want everyone to have a job we just need to share the available work around. Makes sense when you think about it, doesn’t it? (for more on this see The Unemployment Myth).
Here’s something else to think about. There are many ways to take a drug, and smoking is the only way that forces other people to take it with the user. We know second-hand smoke kills more than a million people each year, including 50,000 children, so why don’t we make tobacco users take their poison in another way? Or more to the point, why don’t we even talk about it?
Tobacco is my go to topic to do show people that they have been conned, if not actually brainwashed, so you might want to start with the tobacco blog. You don’t have to read them in any particular order though, so go with what interests you.
And don’t be too hard on yourself or your fellow humans for being conned, because we all got sucked in by something.
Author’s note:
The Broken Planet series can be read as stand-alone books in any order, and which book to read first depends on your personal interests. If it’s health read Survival, if it’s economics and politics read Armageddon, and if it’s religious history read Prince of Peace. Having said this, it might be best to read Armageddon before American Imperialism and Prince of Peace before Return of the Goddess.
Author Bio
I was born in London in 1962, and emigrated to Perth, Western Australia, in 1974. After high school I studied engineering for 18 months before switching to nursing, studying General, Paediatric and Mental Health nursing. I then completed a bachelor’s degree in naturopathy at Southern Cross University in Lismore, NSW, in 2005.
I had to stop working in my early 30s due to failing health, and, not finding the answers I was seeking in orthodox medicine, I turned to alternative medicine. This led to my studying natural medicine, which led to my researching and writing about my health issues. This in turn led to my looking into the life of Jesus, since he was a great healer. Unfortunately, his healing techniques and lifestyle recommendations were not recorded in the New Testament.
Needing something to occupy my time I moved on to reading about climate change, and the politics and economics of western societies. It soon became apparent that there is a lot wrong with the system. This in turn led to my writing Armageddon, which covers a lot of ground for what is a relatively short book. American Imperialism follows on from Armageddon, delving deeper into the decay of western morality.
I have no doubt that we can fix our broken planet, but there is a lot of disinformation out there that deters people from taking action. My aim with these books is to explain key issues in simple terms without being overly simplistic, and suggest ways to move forward to a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. My hope is that we can get there before it’s too late.
Note:
Mat Jackson is not my real name.
I’m a little worried that someone is going to shoot me, I’m just not sure who will get there first. The possibilities are endless.
